Welcome to the KA Kids International Preschool website. And thanks for giving me this opportunity to tell you all about our school’s special goals and unique educational programs.
Where should I send my boy or girl to preschool? This is one of the most important questions you as the parent of a young child will have to answer. Early childhood should be a time of exploration and adventure—a time when children make discoveries, build friendships, develop character. KA Kids provides an open, friendly environment where children can do all this and more. We give kids opportunities for play and creative self-expression, for positive interactions with teachers and other children that encourage children to explore their innate capacity for joy and happiness.
But we at KA Kids know that when choosing a preschool, you also have to consider your child’s future. You, and we, know that it can’t just be all fun and games. Will the school prepare my boy or girl for success in the world at large? Will it teach the necessary skills? Does it have a solid academic program? These are questions all concerned parents have to ask.
I’m proud to say that KA Kids has the answers, and they’re all yes. Our World of Wonder program and our Read Write Inc. English courses (the only ones of their kind in Japan) achieve a just-right balance of fun and academics. Or, rather, fun through academics. At KA Kids, academic subjects like math, reading, and writing become adventures in learning—adventures that get results and make kids eager for more. Our teaching methods may be modern and progressive, but our goals are as traditional as they come. We seek to help children become lifelong learners, filled with curiosity, armed with self-confidence, guided by common sense.
Perhaps some of you have reservations. You’re not sure about sending your child to an international preschool where only English is spoken. You live in Japan, after all. So of course your child needs to master Japanese and feel at home in Japanese society. But you also know that to succeed in today’s world and ensure a bright future, your child should have a good head start in English. So, what is to be done?
Here’s what I suggest to all the parents who have asked me that same question. During their preschool years, children can focus on and build up a solid foundation in English at KA Kids International. After school, they can speak and learn Japanese at home, just as so many Japanese kids who live abroad do. As we all know, children pick up languages easily. And science has proven that the old idea about one language somehow blocking out the other and both languages suffering is just that—an old idea.
But what happens when children start attending a Japanese elementary school? Won’t they “lose” their English? We have the answer for that, too. Kikokushijo Academy offers a full range of after-school English reading, writing, and speaking courses that allow children to become “domestic kikokushijo,” courses that will make sure that they not only don’t “lose” English, but truly master it.
Studies now show that there’s no greater gift parents can give a child than bilingualism. Bilingual children grow up to be smarter, more successful, happier adults. By enrolling your child at KA Kids International, you’ll be giving him or her the opportunity to be a “native speaker” of two languages—and to reap all the advantages that brings.
We have a gift for you, too, by the way. All KA Kids graduates get automatic enrollment at Kikokushijo Academy, and lifetime tuition discounts, to boot.
Once again, thank you for your interest in KA Kids International Preschool. My faculty, staff, and I are all looking forward to helping your child discover the joy of learning.
